WHAT’S NEW

A LOCAL STAR

Anyone who's ever visited the David Dunlap Observatory knows it's an incredibly special place. Not only is it strikingly beautiful, it also carries an aura that's almost surreal; perhaps that's why it was chosen to be a star, -in the figurative sense of course. In 1960 the film "Universe" was released by the National Film Board of Canada, and was met with much praise. It was nominated for an Oscar in the 'best documentary' category the year it was released, and offered some of the most vivid special effects anyone had ever seen....

HOW A SMALL SHACK EXPANDED OUR KNOWLEDGE OF THE UNIVERSE

Observatory Hill is a master-planned community nestled in one of the greenest parts of Richmond Hill. The world-renowned David Dunlap Observatory, for which the development is named, has been an important instrument of astrological discovery.

REACH FOR THE STARS AND LIVE IN OBSERVATORY HILL

The three components of a community that you want in perfect balance are exceptional housing, verdant green space, and attractive amenities. It is this last feature that is the most difficult to perfect. However, this is where Observatory Hill has found truly stellar success.

Living in York Region

York Region is a flourishing regional municipality stretching from just north of Toronto all the way up to Lake Simcoe, and is home to more than 1.2 million residents. The nine cities and towns that make up the region are home to some of the most desirable communities in the Greater Toronto Area, and across Canada as a whole. York Region is a major business hub as well, with industry leading jobs across a range of sectors; it is the perfect place to grow your career and your family’s future.

Threaded through with hectares of protected greenbelt, York Region is a diverse and beautiful region of southern Ontario, with a booming business sector and a broad range of services and resources spread between the many varied cities and towns that make up the area. The region is culturally rich, full of activities for the whole family, and boasts a thriving education system.

Education

York Region District School Board is the third largest school district in Ontario, and consistently outperforms in provincial testing standards. Good students, good teachers and a great support system make York Region a place where your children can prepare themselves to succeed in their future endeavors and make a difference.

Furthermore, the Government of Ontario, The Regional Municipality of York, The City of Markham and York University have recently announced plans to move forward with the construction of a university campus in the City of Markham. The Markham Centre Campus will bring economic and educational growth to the region, and attract a new, even more diverse group of residents to the area, as well as provide opportunities for local students to thrive within their community.

The York Region area houses a range of recreational and cultural venues for residents to enjoy. There are an abundance of conservation areas and cycling trails throughout the area for residents who enjoy spending time outdoors in the beautiful, natural environment that is so richly available in York Region. There are historic sites to discover and explore, golf courses to enjoy and festivals to attend. The attractions and events in York Region are numerous and just waiting for you to experience them.
